Hawks History and Background
The Ohio Hawks fielded our first (and only) team during the
2007 fastpitch season. A group of 11 year old Madison Township
girls came together to field the 12u Ohio Hawks. Coach Ken Cox
and his daughter, Liz, trained them all winter and took them
into their first tournement in Indianapolis in April of 2007.
What an eye opener that was, they were run ruled every game,
a rude welcome to fastpitch softball.
But
they persevered, and after 6 tournaments and a record of 8-24,
it happened, they
begin to win.
They beat the 12u Doom,
the number one seed at Heat'n It Up, then the Slammers
at Harrison and finally they put it all together to
win the Gene Harvey Memorial over the Dayton Yellow
Jackets.

The next weekend they played in a
USSSA WS quailifer and after a tough loss to the Miami
Explosion, they rallied to beat SDS twice, the Yellow Jackets
and finally the Explosion in the Championship game.
They had qualified for the 2008 USSSA
World Series in Orlando, Florida in just their first season.
